Singapore, Jimbaran Bay, Ubud, Candidasa.

Begin in the tropical city of Singapore. With an expert private guide, explore British colonial-era landmarks and neighbourhoods in the European quarter, Little India, Chinatown, Arab Street and the Malay district. Browse local bazaars where daily activities take place around "wet" and "dry" markets. Explore tiny specialty shops and observe basket weavers and perfume makers at work. Admire the quaint black and white historic townhouses and enjoy a walking tour through the beautiful Botanic Gardens. Perhaps tour the award-winning Night Safari at the Singapore Zoo, or browse Singapore's exciting Quay Districts. There will also be free time to enjoy legendary Raffles Hotel, a true urban resort.

Next, fly to Bali, a Hindu island best known for its traditional culture, friendly people, great beaches, and beautiful interior filled with terraced rice fields and jungle. Stay for three nights at an exclusive resort for beachside relaxation in Jimbaran Bay. A guide and driver will be at your disposal for a few hours each day, should you decide to venture to local shops and seafood restaurants. There will also be ample time for you to enjoy the resort's spa, beach, tennis, golf, water activities, and cooking school.

Continue to Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali. Once a haven for scruffy backpackers, cosmic seekers, artists and bohemians; Ubud is now a hot spot for literati, glitterati, art collectors and connoisseurs. Take advantage of your resort’s spa and your decadent room with a private pool or request for flexible touring of lush rice terraces, small villages, art and craft communities, ancient temples and palaces. Alternatively, try one of the many spas, yoga and meditation centres that are big news here, particularly after the bestselling Eat, Pray, Love.

Next, travel with your private guide to eastern Bali, one of the island’s most traditional provinces. Stay for two nights at an exclusive resort perched on a cliff high above the ocean near Candidasa. Enjoy free time on the soft sand beaches, go surfing or take a colourful ‘jukung’ fishing boat, it is a perfect place to holiday. During flexible private touring, visit revered temples, royal palaces, and Balinese villages known for their high-quality weavings, silk and traditional architecture. Relax by the resort's spectacular tiered infinity pool overlooking the ocean, and dine on superb Balinese cuisine.

When to go In general, Bali and Lombok have similar weather, though Lombok is dried and receives less rain than Bali. The hot and sticky rainy season lasts October to March with the worst falling between December and February. From June to August, the temperature drops slightly and there is usually a refreshing cool breeze in the air. The best time to travel is the dry season, from April to September. It is also when humidity is at its lowest. Be warned that prices will rise between July and September.

Getting There There are a number of International airlines that offer direct flights to Bali. From Jakarta, Garuda Indonesia and Sempati Air have around a dozen departure times to Bali. Internationally, Garuda also has direct flights from Singapore, Hong Kong, and a number of Australian cities; as well as flights from Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and other European cities.

From Asia, direct flights from Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong are readily available from Garuda Indonesia, Thai Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Malaysia Airlines. Airasia has made a big impact on how people travel through this region. Flights are cheap and overall service is simple, straightforward and efficient.

Airport Transfers: In Bali (just as in Jakarta) taxis are divided into two types - Bluebird taxis, and everyone else. Bluebird taxis have earned a reputation for being honest dealers in the often-corrupt taxi industry. Non-Bluebird taxis, on the other hand, are known for dirty tricks - not using their meter and taking roundabout routes, among other things. Bluebird taxis are light blue, with a bird logo enclosed in a rounded diamond, and "Bali Taxi" emblazoned on the side.
