Posada Del Faro

Posada del Faro, is a modernist beach hotel, set in the fashionable town of Jose Ignacio on the southern coast of Uruguay. Jose Ignacio is small town on a point dividing two splendid crescent-shaped beaches. The point defined by a faro or lighthouse which is not far and hence the name of the hotel. Set within this beautiful town, the delightful Posada del Faro with its white adobe walls is the most attractive house and a perfect base for exploring the Atlantic shores of Punta del Este.

Set within the two-storey white Posada del Faro are 12 rooms and three suites. Minimal and architectural, the rooms are designed to allow the view to be the dominant feature. All are white-on-white, cleanly designed with plush beds, elegant throws and brick fireplaces. Spacious balcony or veranda have magnificent outlooks of either the pool or the beach. Relax in the pool or walk across the street to the beach where there are lounges and a bar with full beach service.

For a classic taste of José Ignacio’s rarefied atmosphere drop in at a beachside restaurant, where you can mingle with beautiful local people. Walk down its streets named after birds; a broad hint for bird watchers to explore the surrounds. Come between March and October and Posada del Faro will arrange whale-watching excursions or anytime outside the high-season if you want to learn to surf in quiet surroundings, or rub shoulders with a celebrity between December and February.

Location Jose Ignacio, Uruguay
La Posada del Faro is set in the exclusive seaside village of Jose Ignacio, 30-minutes from the glitzy resort town of Punta del Este.

Getting there Punta del Este Capitán Corbeta CA Curbelo International is the nearest airport, and is served by flights from Buenos Aires. Posada del Faro is 30-minutes from Punta del Este airport.

When to go November to March is the ideal time to stay at Posada del Faro weatherwise. The very popular peak summer season from Christmas to mid-February gets booked up well in advance so best to plan early. During this period the whole place comes alive and there is a great party atmosphere. It is worth bearing in mind however that during the quieter season - including November, many of the area's bars and restaurants are closed which does tend to restrict eating options to your hotel.
