The beautiful Belcampo, Belize Lodge is located near Punta Gorda, Belize on a jungle hillside, in the southern Toledo district. This unique eco-adventure lodge and farm is known for practising sustainable agricultural practices and a superb base for a range of outdoor activities. Set amidst thick rain forest, the main lodge looks out over a 12,000-acre nature reserve that encompasses a sugar cane plantation, groves of cacao trees and tropical gardens.

The Rio Grande runs along the Belcampo’s eastern side, which leads a short way to the Caribbean where serious anglers can try their sport on catch and release basic the coveted Grand Slam—permit, tarpon, and bonefish. Other opportunities include scuba diving and snorkelling. Within the jungle there is a wide variety of bird and wildlife and the lodge can arrange excursions with expert guides as well as cultural excursions to the nearby Mayan ruins.

Stay Hidden in the jungle, Belcampo has 16 Villa-style private suites with large screened verandas, overseeing the rainforest canopy where howler monkeys and toucans hop among the branches. All suites have air-conditioning, vaulted beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and handcrafted wood furniture. Jungle suites have king or queen-size beds, deluxe suites are more spacious and the four new ridge suites, with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea come with outdoor soaking tubs and access to a salt water infinity pool. 

ChildCare Children are welcome to stay at the Belcampo, though there are no specific facilities available. However, children get 50% discounts for those 12 and under on guided kayaking, in-land tours and snorkelling activities and other specific adventures created just for kids! There is a three-bedroom Family Villa which is ideal for group or family. 

Dine Meals at Belcampo form an important highlight of this resort. There is a prolific organic farm, which supplements more than 70 percent of the food served to lodge guests. This farm-to-table cuisine can be enjoyed in main dining area or al fresco on the wooden deck, or on the banks of the Rio Grande. There is also a rum and coffee bar where you can savour Belize's best. The lodge also runs courses in the production of organic coffee, chocolate and rum.

Relax The serene Belcampo Belize Spa, overlooking the rainforest canopy uses only locally sourced ingredients and botanicals. There is a lovely swimming pool and small spa for relaxing and a small gym close to the river where you can embark on a tranquil river cruise. Every week, the lodge hosts a fireside music performance by a local Garifuna group on the adjoining lawn. And, if you find relaxation in gardening, then visit their organic farm. 

Experience Belcampo offers a range of activities including canoeing and kayaking on the Rio Grande but it is primarily known as a fly fisher’s paradise. Cast for tarpon and snook on Rio Grand and in the mangroves or head out to the white sand beaches of the Sapodilla Cayes for bonefish. Take the Cave & Hiking Adventure and visit ancient Maya Ruins and a famous Maya Village. Go mountain biking along the narrow lanes of Punta Gorda or visit the lodge’s farm on a 90-minute guided tour.

Belcampo is located inside a 12,000-acre nature reserve that encompasses pristine rain forest, tropical gardens, a sugar cane plantation and a prolific organic farm. It is five miles north of Punta Gorda in the Toledo District, Belize.

Getting There All international flights to Belize arrive at Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City. The easiest way to get to Belize from the UK is via the US. Flying via Miami is the shortest, approx. 9 hours from Heathrow and approx. 2 hours onward flight from Miami to Belize City. The Lodge is reachable by a 1-hour light aircraft flight from Belize City to Punta Gorda airstrip followed by a 10-minute drive.

When to go Belize's climate is marked by two distinct wet and dry seasons. November through April (Dry) is the best time to visit Belize when the days and nights are cooler. The coldest month is January and the warmest temperatures are in May. Late June through November (Wet) experience sporadic downpours that occur without warning and gets intense between August and October.
