Xigera Camp

Xigera Camp is nestled in a riverine forest right in the heart of the Okavango Delta, on the aptly-named Paradise Island, Xigera. This part of the Moremi Game Reserve is a true wetland paradise, with Xigera Camp surrounded by deep channels and lush vegetation. Guests are sometimes treated to close-up views of lion or leopard using the footbridge connecting Xigera Camp to the next island. It has ten luxuriously furnished tented rooms, each with en-suite facilities and an outdoor shower.

In the floodplains surrounding the camp are regular sightings of Buffalo, Elephant, Zebra, Giraffe, Lechwe and Sitatunga as well as numerous other Delta species. Lion and leopard can also be seen crossing the deep channels as they move between islands. Hippo can be seen from mokoro and there is an abundance of birds, a special being Pel’s Fishing Owl.

Summer activities in Xigera Camp include 50% Game drives and 50% Water activities. During winter, its 20% Game drives and 80% Water activities. Whilst the emphasis at Xigera is on water activities, game drives are offered all year round. This is a good multi-activity camp. Walking safaris are organised on request. There are no night drives until the Moremi Wildlife Reserve rules change.
