Vumbura Camp

Vumbura Plains Camp is a luxury camp situated in a private Kwedi concession in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta. The concession includes a wide variety of habitats, diverse wildlife and an enormous area of 60,000 hectares. It comprises of two separate seven-roomed satellite camps, each with its own raised dining, lounge and bar area tucked beneath a canopy of cool, shady, indigenous trees. A star-gazing deck with comfortable cushions protrudes into the floodplain, a place to gaze upwards, or a convivial camp fire setting.

Elephants are found all year round around the Vumbura Camp but peak roughly from May till late Oct. Lions are seen regularly and it is a good area for Leopard and Wild Dogs. Plains game is good year-round but peaks in the dry months with sightings of giraffe, sable antelope, zebra, common waterbuck and wildebeest, red lechwe and Cape buffalo. Encounters with hippo and crocodile are common in the waterways. Excellent birding especially Carmine Bee-Eaters in summer.

Activities at the Vumbura Plains Camp includes both land and water activities, principally nature viewing in open 4x4 vehicles, nature walks, mokoro trips and boat excursions.
